Commissioning of 48 renewable power plants with a capacity of 316 MW in the next three months

Deputy Energy Minister announces an 80% growth rate in renewable power plant construction in Iran, with 48 new units with a total capacity of 316 MW to be commissioned in 12 provinces across the country over the next three months.

According to the Ministry of Energy's news portal, Mahmoud Kamani stated that the government's support has been instrumental in laying the groundwork for the renewable energy industry's growth. As a result, a 30,000-MW renewable energy target was set and approved by the Supreme Energy Council under the directive of the late President, Ayatollah Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi. Kamani further explained that following the necessary approvals from the Supreme Council of Economy, several tenders have been held, and construction permits have been issued for over 13,000 MW of renewable power plants.

Kamani went on to add that these projects are under construction with varying degrees of progress. Upon their completion, the share of renewables in the country's energy mix will surpass 10%.

Kamani further explained that these power plants have been constructed using a combination of investment models, including Article 12 of the Removal of Production Barriers Law and the Industrial Electricity Supply and Power Plant Construction Model implemented by executive agencies.

Kamani also pointed to the inauguration of the second phase of the country's largest solar panel manufacturing plant, with a capacity of 1800 MW. He noted that the first phase of this plant, with a capacity of 500 MW, was inaugurated in 2022 in the presence of the late President Ayatollah Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi. With the opening of the new lines, the total solar panel production capacity has reached 2300 megawatts. This complex, located in the Khomein county of Markazi province, was constructed and commissioned within 13 months.

The Head of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) announced an 80% growth rate in renewable power plant construction in Iran, with 48 new units with a total capacity of 316 megawatts (MW) set to come online in 12 provinces across the country over the next three months. He further noted that the country's total approved renewable energy capacity has reached approximately 1200 MW, of which the 13th administration has contributed 346 MW, representing a growth rate of over 40% compared to the approved capacity in previous years.
